What Is mold remediation?

Within an air-duct contractor's scope, mold remediation means addressing visible microbial growth inside the HVAC system itself — on duct interiors, in the plenum, on the evaporator coil, in the drain pan, or on insulation board. We follow IICRC-aligned containment practices: isolate the work area, run negative air with HEPA filtration, physically remove contaminated fiberglass duct board or liner where it can't be cleaned, HEPA-vacuum and treat metal surfaces with an EPA-registered antimicrobial, and address the moisture source so it doesn't come back. Whole-house structural mold or remediation behind drywall is referred to a licensed mold-remediation specialist.

Why Is mold remediation Important?

An HVAC system with active mold growth is essentially a delivery mechanism for spores — every cycle distributes them throughout the home. That's a real health concern for anyone with allergies, asthma, or a compromised immune system, and it's a major selling-point issue for real-estate transactions. Equally important, mold inside the system is a symptom of a moisture problem (oversized AC, dirty coil, blocked drain line, leaking plenum). Remediating without correcting the moisture source guarantees regrowth, so we do both.

When Should You Consider mold remediation?

Call us when you see visible mold at the registers, in the blower compartment, or on the coil; when you smell a persistent musty odor that returns after a duct cleaning; when a home inspection has flagged microbial growth in the HVAC; or after any water intrusion event near the air handler. Don't run the system more than necessary in the meantime.
